The first thing to answer is the 5Ws and one H, which are the standard reporter questions to be asked Who, What, Where, When, Why and How.
Not in any particular order I will start out with....
Where:
This bicycle adventure begins in Memphis and ends in New Orleans. The distance of this trip is approximately 680 miles... https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=ze3A9FyGkczs.kIJZMnRQodQY
I also included MTB(Mississippi Trail Blues) markers on this map. The route follows the MRT(Mississippi River Trail) http://www.mississippirivertrail.org/ route using the MRT St Louis and New Orleans Trails with a few exceptions where a detour will take you through Clarksdale, MS.
When:
Hopefully in the Fall of 2016 maybe October and should about 9-10 days to complete the trip. I would like this to coincide with the Deep Blue Festival in Clarksdale, MS which is usually in the middle of October, which is a Thursday thru Sunday. It will take a day and a half to reach Clarksdale from Memphis. So leaving from Memphis Thursday or Friday would work out great and stay over for a day in Clarksdale.
Who:
I would like to have a small group of riders 3-4 total. Requirements for the riders, drink beer, listen to the Blues, enjoy bike touring and adventures, camping and more beer.
What and Why:
This is a Blues Education/Culture trip, the main goal of this adventure will be to take in the sights and sounds of the Mississippi Delta by bicycle. Sample local beers and other spirits along the way, while visiting local Juke Joints, Clubs, Pubs, Dives and other bars.
How:
How will this happen? Well fist thing first is to get into riding shape and second is the logistics of getting myself, bike and panniers to Memphis and then from New Orleans to home. Now I could drive to Memphis then take a train back from New Orleans back to Memphis then drive home. Or take Greyhound from ATL to Memphis and then Amtrak from New Orleans back to ATL in which I think maybe the best option.
